Valmond fronted Liquid Ice, the Roseau-based band that emerged in the cadence-lypso wave of the 1970s, right on the heels of Grammacks. The band relocated to Guadeloupe, where the French Antillean circuit was where Dominican music found its biggest audiences, and built a following there.

His voice carried a blend that the era's listeners recognized as something distinct, cadence meeting soca meeting Creole soul, versatile enough to hold a crowd in any register.

Meet the Artist

Waitukubuli Artists Association

The Waitukubuli Artist Association (WAA) was founded in Dominica in 2017 by master artist Earl Etienne and Craig Steadman of DEXIA, in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. What began as a small gathering of visual artists has grown into a community of over 90 members — painters, sculptors, photographers, poets, performers, and more .

Volunteer-run and currently led by filmmaker and photographer Michael Lees, WAA has produced large-scale public murals, staged exhibitions across Dominica, and built mentorship programs for emerging artists. Eight years on, the association remains the island's primary collective voice for the visual arts.

Does the art arrive ready to hang?

Framed prints arrive fully assembled with hanging hardware included. Unframed prints are rolled in protective tubes.

Can I order a custom size?

We currently offer four or five standard sizes depending on the aspect ratio. If you have a specific size in mind, contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you.
