The bay curves in a near-perfect arc below — deep cobalt at the center shading to turquoise where the reef begins, the village of Soufriere tucked at the water's edge and Scotts Head just visible at the far point. A small rocky islet sits offshore to the right, and the mountains behind are so densely forested they look almost unreal in the morning light.

That water is a marine reserve, and anyone who has dived or free dived it knows why it deserves the protection. It's also home to the Blue Element free diving competition — one of the more fitting venues for a sport that demands exactly the kind of stillness the bay seems to invite.

Yuri A. Jones

Yuri A. Jones is a Dominican photographer based in the U.S., whose work is deeply tied to the island he grew up on. He shoots nature, landscapes, aerials, and cultural scenes; the waterfalls, forests, coastlines, mountains, and everyday Caribbean moments that most people walk past without stopping. Before photography, he spent years working in finance. He left that behind to build something closer to what he actually cared about.

Framed prints arrive fully assembled with hanging hardware included. Unframed prints are rolled in protective tubes.
