Where the Hampstead prints collapse the scene into pure horizontal bands, this St. Kitts image keeps its geography. Sand, surf, sea, sky — all four layers are here, just softened into something closer to memory than photograph. The warm gold of the beach anchors the foreground, a lazy wave dissolves into white in the middle, and the teal of the Caribbean stretches back to a cloudy blue horizon.

It's the image that started the series, and it shows — there's a looseness to it, an openness. Less abstract than the Dominica work, more willing to let you see where you are.

Yuri A. Jones

Yuri A. Jones is a Dominican photographer based in the U.S., whose work is deeply tied to the island he grew up on. He shoots nature, landscapes, aerials, and cultural scenes; the waterfalls, forests, coastlines, mountains, and everyday Caribbean moments that most people walk past without stopping. Before photography, he spent years working in finance. He left that behind to build something closer to what he actually cared about.
