Artist Profile

Reisha Felix

Reisha Felix is an award-winning Toronto-based fine artist and multimedia artist, born and raised on the Caribbean island of Dominica. Self-taught in her practice, she creates work inspired by her Afro-Caribbean heritage, nature, and lived experiences.

Central to her art is a fascination with Black hair—its beauty, versatility, and cultural significance. Through figurative paintings and her signature hot glue technique, Reisha recreates intricate curls, coils, kinks, and knots, celebrating the histories, identities, and traditions woven into textured hair.

Career highlights include having her artwork featured on a Durham Region Transit bus as part of Durham Region’s 2025 Black History Month campaign, appearing on CTV News to discuss the collaboration and her artistic practice, and exhibiting at venues including Nia Centre for the Arts, Neilson Park Creative Centre, Withrow Gallery, The Serpa Gallery, Scugog Arts Space, and the Legislative Building in Toronto. Her work is also held in private collections across Canada, the United States, England, Africa, and the Caribbean.
